Greene County treasurer Donna Lawson reminds taxpayers that the first half of real estate taxes are due on Friday, Sept. 30. The taxes must be paid in person in her office in the courthouse, paid online at www.iowatreasurers.org or postmarked by that date.
Lawson stressed that for those who mail their payments, it is important to include the receipt with the check to ensure credit is given to the proper account.
All payments made on or after Oct. 1 will be assessed a penalty of 1-1/2 percent per month.
Lawson also advises the driver’s license station in her office will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday, October 5-6 for training. Other services offered in the office will be available.
The treasurer’s office will be closed Tuesday, Oct, 25, while all staff members attend a district meeting in Ames.
